Martin Markiewicz, CEO & Co-founder of Silent Eight
Martin is the co-founder and CEO of Silent Eight, where he leads the development of cutting-edge AI solutions to fight financial crime. With a background in mathematics and hands-on AI research, Martin has spearheaded the creation of advanced technologies now deployed by global banks like Standard Chartered and HSBC to combat money laundering and terrorist financing.
Before founding Silent Eight, Martin built a company focused on building hydropower plants in Central Europe, generating renewable energy, and ultimately taking it public. He is passionate about solving real-world problems with technology, sustainability, and the potential of AI to make a difference.
Julia Markiewicz, Co-founder and Chief Operating Officer
A creator of artificial intelligence-powered solutions that combat money laundering and terrorist financing. Based in Singapore, her style in management is the primary catalyst behind Silent Eight’s heavy investment in research and development, and simultaneous drive to grow the team and geographical footprint.
Julia is a proactive problem-solver who first gained employment at the age of eight years old. She has a history of bright entrepreneurial activities, including her own startup, Fabryka Kadr, a leading European provider of human resources services that introduced many modern concepts to the market.
Julia has a Master’s degree in Social Policy and is passionate about innovation and driven to activate every member of the team to achieve their full potential.
In 2022, she made Forbes’ list of ‘100 Most Influential Women’ and was named one of ‘Europe’s Top 25 Women Leaders in Financial Technology’ for the third year in a row. Julia speaks Chinese, English, Polish and Russian, and loves to travel and explore new cultures.
Michael Wilkowski, Co-founder and Chief Technology Officer
A creator of artificial intelligence (AI)-powered solutions dedicated to anti-money laundering and combating the financing of terrorism.
Based in Poland, Michael provides the technology vision and expertise and is a driving force behind the company’s advancements in fighting financial crime.
As a result, leading financial services providers such as HSBC, Standard Chartered, First Abu Dhabi Bank, Mashreq, Emirates NBD, AIA and ADIB use Silent Eight’s flagship solution, Iris. Michael’s background as a development manager, solution architect, and development lead in conjunction with his hands-on experience in various technologies and a strong passion for machine learning (ML) and natural language processing (NLP) has made him the influential figure he is today.
Michael has worked with his fellow co-founders, Martin Markiewicz and Julia Markiewicz for over 20 years. Initially establishing a hydropower plant company, which the trio took public and sold, they founded Silent Eight in 2013.
Michelle Frasher, Head of Compliance & Regulatory Affairs
In her role with Silent Eight, Dr. Frasher is responsible for global financial crime compliance, sanctions analysis and compliance, artificial intelligence products, privacy protections and related regulations across product lines and will serve as a best practices consultant to clients. She also offers guidance on market and geopolitical developments; advises on product initiatives, sales and go-to-market strategy, and delivers insights on the role of human-driven AI solutions in advancing FCC compliance.
She worked at Oxford Analytica and also for an EU AML/CFT Global Facility along with Moody’s Analytics and Lexis/Nexis Risk Solutions. She went to Texas A&M University with a Ph.D. in History (International Political Economy) and an MA from Ohio University in International Relations (IPE) and History.
Ben Rayner, Global Head of Sales
Ben has 20 years experience in Banking, leading Operations, Analytics and Financial Crime teams. Over a decade of Financial Crime Compliance in the Natwest Group, Co-operative Bank and HSBC in a variety of roles, culminating in being Group Head of Name Screening at HSBC. He was also part of the HSBC / Silent Eight partnership automating alert adjudication that won the AI Breakthrough Award for Best MLOps Solution.
Ben now heads the Global sales team at Silent Eight, where he and his team drive awareness of the Silent Eight value in fighting financial crime.
Ajay George, Chief Product Officer
As Chief Product Officer at Silent Eight, Ajay is responsible for product development, professional services, customer success, and the strategic integration of artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) into the company’s innovative solutions. His teams are responsible for building and delivering the cutting-edge software that powers Silent Eight’s products, ensuring successful customer implementations, and providing world-class support to maximise client value.
With nearly two decades of expertise in AML (Anti-Money Laundering) compliance, Ajay has helped banks worldwide optimise their AML controls, significantly improving operational efficiency and profitability. His deep knowledge of AI and ML has driven meaningful transformations in the financial industry.
Before joining Silent Eight, Ajay spent over a decade at Oracle, where he led implementations of their FCC (Financial Crime Compliance) solutions. He later served as Global Head of Transformation at Capgemini, guiding financial institutions through major AI and ML-driven transformations.
Ajay holds a Master of Science degree in Computer Science.
