Key Executives

David Z Wang, Co-Founder and Group CEO


David co-founded Helicap in 2018 and serves as the Group CEO. He has extensive experience in private equity, venture capital, and fintech, having held leadership roles in financial institutions before Helicap. David has a decade of experience across investment banks – Morgan Stanley, Credit Suisse, and Nomura. He left banking in 2016 to establish 33 Capital, a tech-focused investment firm investing in FinTech and e-commerce startups in Southeast Asia. Among its successes, 33 Capital led a Series B investment in a FinTech payments company which was recently listed on the Singapore Stock Exchange. He was awarded Top FinTech Leader by the Singapore FinTech Association in 2019 and was a Singapore Founder Finalist for the MAS FinTech Awards in 2020.


Jeremy Tan, Co-Founder and Chief Operating Officer


Jeremy is responsible for overseeing day-to-day operations at Helicap. With his background in financial software and alternative investments, Jeremy has played a key role in building the company’s operational framework and scaling its operations​. Jeremy was a Director at Jia Shing Enterprise – a family owned- business and family office in Singapore – and a Director at JL Capital, which managed a billion dollar Global Macro Hedge Fund. Throughout his career, he spent considerable time at both front and back office functions, and spearheaded the launch of a structured bond fund; and launched numerous new funds in various jurisdictions including Singapore, Delaware, the Cayman Islands, Mauritius and Cyprus.


Quentin Vanoekel, Co-Founder, Chief Investment and Financial Officer


Quentin brings over 15 years of investment experience across Southeast Asia. Before co-founding Helicap, he was a venture partner at renowned venture capital firms, including 33 Capital and Via iD, and the Deputy CFO of MC Payment, a regional FinTech company providing omni-channel payment solutions, where he met his fellow co-founder David Z Wang. Prior to that, Quentin was an Executive Director at Bongo Capital, a family office investing across industries in Indonesia and Europe. He was also part of the founding team that set up and ran the asset management arm for the group, during which he obtained the Investment Manager License certified by Indonesia’s OJK in 2012 (fka Bapepam-LK). At Helicap, he manages investment strategies and oversees financial operations, focusing on the company’s risk management and deployment of private capital​.


Jitendra Jaitawat, Chief Technology Officer, Co-Founder of Helix


Jitendra leads the development of Helicap’s proprietary technology platform, which processes large volumes of loan data to manage risk effectively. His expertise is crucial in driving the company’s tech-driven approach to alternative financing​. He is also a former Executive Director with Goldman Sachs Technology, possesses more than 15 years of experience in Financial Services building mission critical Portfolio Management & Trading platforms and leading complex enterprise scale build-outs. Started his career with IBM as an Application Programmer in 2006, before joining Goldman Sachs in 2008, where he worked more than a decade holding various roles across Tokyo and Singapore.


Cheryl Tay, Director of Sales & Partnership


Cheryl is Helicap’s Director of Sales and Partnerships. She has managed investments for ultra-high and high-net-worth clients at Citibank, Morgan Stanley, Credit Suisse, and Maybank Private Banking for the past decade. In her extensive experience, she has managed portfolios based on solutions across a variety of asset classes. She holds a Bachelor’s Degree with Honors in Science, majoring in Life Science with a concentration in Biomedical Science from the National University of Singapore.

Kenanga Investment Bank:


In 2024, the company secured a Series B round, which was led by Kenanga Investment Bank Berhad from Malaysia. This investment solidified Kenanga’s commitment by acquiring an 8% stake in the company. Subsequently, Kenanga Group’s stake will be further increased in the near future to approximately 10%, making Kenanga Group the largest institutional investor in Helicap. Helicap recently closed a major funding deal with XenCapital, the lending arm of fintech unicorn Xendit. In September 2024, Helicap facilitated a $50 million credit facility to empower underbanked businesses across Southeast Asia, particularly focusing on Indonesia, the Philippines, and beyond. This collaboration between Helicap and XenCapital aims to improve capital access for Southeast Asia’s growing SME sector.

Xendit, a payment gateway with operations in Indonesia, the Philippines, and Malaysia, offers alternative lending through its arm XenCapital. With over $700 million in loans disbursed, XenCapital serves underbanked businesses across Southeast Asia
