Christy Moccia, the Chief Compliance Officer at Clear Street, takes time to contemplate the firm's changing position in the financial services sector and the development of her team as she observes her fifth year in the position. Moccia leads the compliance and anti-money laundering (AML) teams, which are responsible for overseeing all regulatory matters for the firm. She collaborates closely with various departments within the company, such as finance, risk, operations, and executive management.
When Moccia joined, the compliance staff was composed of only two individuals. Under her stewardship, the organization has grown to include 13 members who provide support for Clear Street's clearing, custody, prime financing, and trading tools. She underscores the daily challenges of the position, which involve the delicate balance of regulatory changes and the resolution of unforeseen issues. One of her most cherished accomplishments was the successful completion of Clear Street's $165 million Series B funding round in 2022, which was led by Prysm Capital. This funding round allowed the firm to expand its fintech offerings. Describing Clear Street in three words, Moccia calls it "ambitious, dynamic, and innovative," underscoring the firm’s commitment to pushing boundaries in the fintech space.
