L’Oréal SAPMENA Achieves 100% Renewable Energy at All Sites

L’Oréal SAPMENA, spanning from New Zealand to Morocco and home to over 40 percent of the global population, has achieved its 100 percent renewable energy goal two years ahead of schedule. This milestone comes amidst three consecutive years of double-digit sales growth since 2021 and a significant 18 percent reduction in energy intensity since 2019. The achievement reflects the company’s commitment to integrating sustainability into its operations while demonstrating that environmental responsibility aligns with business success. SAPMENA adopted a location-specific strategy, utilizing solar power, hydro dams, electric boilers, and Power Purchase Agreements to optimize renewable energy sources across sites in diverse environments, such as factories in India, Indonesia, and Egypt.

L’Oréal SAPMENA’s sustainability efforts extend beyond renewable energy. Its holistic approach includes reducing energy consumption, and emissions from transportation and packaging, and increasing on-site renewable energy generation. The company also invests in upskilling suppliers and innovating products to lower consumer-driven greenhouse emissions by 25 percent by 2030. These initiatives align with L’Oréal’s broader “L'Oréal for the Future” program, which aims for net-zero emissions by 2050. With $156 million allocated to address social and environmental challenges, L’Oréal SAPMENA remains dedicated to fostering a sustainable and inclusive future while addressing the pressing environmental needs of the region.
