Father-Daughter Dream Team Dominate Mobile-First Banking

Not long ago Jay Sidhu graced the headlines of the Wall Street Journal as Santander was taking over Sovereign Bank. At the time, Jay was CEO of Sovereign Bank, which he had built and expanded in aggressive fashion through a continuous stream of acquisitions over a twenty year period. His ascent to the top of the banking world was astounding. Then came the merger with Santander and a sort of falling out.

That’s long history now and Jay and his Daughter are on a new spree – a spree to acquire mobile banking consumers. In a short period of time, the two have made BankMobile into the largest and fastest growing mobile-first bank. They are up to 5,000,000 consumers on their platform and have no plans of slowing down. A big part of their growth is coming from the younger generation. One out of three college students in the country is exposed to the BankMobile brand.

Jay’s daughter Luvleen Sidhu serves as the Co-Founder, President and Chief Strategy Officer of the bank. She was recently honored by LendIt as Fintech Woman of the Year. Luvleen has an impressive background graduating from Harvard College and then going on to earn her MBA from The Wharton School. She can be regularly seen across various media outlets including CNBC, Yahoo Finance, The Wall Street Journal, and Forbes.com.

“I am truly honored to be receiving this prestigious award from one of the most renowned global fintech organizations,” stated Sidhu regarding the award. “Women are continuing to significantly impact this industry and I congratulate all my fellow nominees. I am proud of all of BankMobile’s accomplishments since our launch in 2015 and excited for the year ahead.”

Jay Sidhu commented, “We congratulate Luvleen on this well-deserved recognition,” and added, “We continue to be thrilled with the progress BankMobile is making in leading the way for transparent, affordable and innovative banking.” Jay is Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Customers Bancorp, Customers Bank and BankMobile.
