Fujitsu and SAP Fioneer have entered into a strategic partnership to modernize Japan’s insurance industry by developing the Japan Edition of SAP Fioneer Cloud for Insurance. This cloud-based platform will integrate core insurance services, such as product management, policy administration, and claims handling while combining localized content with global best practices. The collaboration aims to address critical industry challenges, including outdated legacy systems, a shortage of skilled IT professionals, and heightened competition. By standardizing operations and enhancing efficiency, insurers can focus on innovation, such as developing new products and expanding sales channels. Proof-of-concept projects are set to begin shortly, with the platform expected to launch by March 2026.
Fujitsu, a global leader in digital transformation with annual revenues of $23 billion, brings its expertise in system development and technology solutions, while SAP Fioneer, launched in 2021 as a joint venture between SAP and Dediq, specializes in financial services software. The partnership leverages Fujitsu's capabilities and SAP Fioneer’s global industry experience to create a de facto standard for insurance technology in Japan. Together, the companies aim to drive innovation, enhance governance, and help insurers meet unique regulatory and operational requirements in the Japanese market.
