New Elon Musk Biography To Incorporate Musk’s Own Voice

Chief Executive Officer of Tesla Motors and SpaceX Elon Musk is known for taking a firm hand in the crafting of his public image. From his frequent viral tweets to his appearance in popular media such as Saturday Night Live, Musk has long taken an interest in crafting his own story, going as far as publicly musing about writing his own autobiography at some point in the future.

For now, Musk reports that he has a professional working on that very project: on August 5th, he tweeted that Walter Isaacson, an author renowned for his biographies of Steve Jobs and Benjamin Franklin, is currently working on a book about Musk.

This will certainly not be the first biography of the dynamic centibillionaire: 2015 saw wide acclaim for Elon Musk: Tesla, SpaceX, and the Quest for a Fantastic Future by Ashlee Vance, and Tim Higgins released Power Play: Tesla, Elon Musk, and the Bet of the Century earlier this month. However, Musk has been critical of these prior depictions of himself and his legacy, calling out Higgins’ book for reporting falsehoods that painted him in a poor light.

By contrast, Isaacson’s book Steve Jobs was widely seen as portraying the world as the Apple founder truly saw it, for good or (according to some critics) ill. Small wonder Musk is so eager to have Isaacson shadowing him in preparation for the book.
