Nium Integrates with Swift for Real-Time Cross-Border Payments

Nium, a global leader in real-time cross-border payments, has announced that financial institutions can now utilize their existing Swift infrastructure to connect with Nium’s global payment network. This integration eliminates the need for complex API implementations, allowing institutions to complete cross-border transactions more efficiently on Nium’s network. The connection supports both Swift MT message formats and the emerging ISO 20022 standard, providing faster settlements, enhanced transparency, and full traceability. Over 80% of payments on Nium’s platform settle within 15 minutes, offering significant benefits for financial institutions navigating today’s on-demand economy.

Nium’s global infrastructure simplifies the payment process by reducing intermediaries and ensuring the full amount is delivered to beneficiaries without additional fees. As a result, financial institutions like Ouribank in Brazil have adopted this system to enhance their international payment capabilities. Alex Johnson, Chief Payments Officer at Nium, emphasized that the integration enables institutions to access Nium’s real-time payment systems with minimal effort, transforming existing payment flows into faster, more secure transactions. This collaboration represents a key step toward global standardization in cross-border payments, enabling businesses to streamline their operations and expand into new markets with ease.
