R&T Deposit Solutions Appoints Mieko Shibata as Executive Vice President and CIO

R&T Deposit Solutions, a prominent US-based provider of cash management and deposit placement programs, has announced the appointment of Mieko Shibata as its new executive vice president and chief information officer (CIO). Shibata, who will also join the company’s executive management committee, is tasked with overseeing R&T’s technology strategy. Susan Cosgrove, R&T’s executive chairperson, remarked that Shibata’s extensive experience in financial technologies will be instrumental in advancing the company's digital transformation and modernizing its operations to better serve clients. Founded in 1974 and headquartered in New York, R&T offers liquidity management, deposit funding, and securities-based lending solutions to the financial services sector.

Shibata brings a wealth of experience to her new role, having held significant tech leadership positions at Bank of America, including head of global markets regulatory reporting technology and head of global markets FX/OTC derivatives post-trade technology during her six-and-a-half-year tenure. Her career also includes leadership roles at Morgan Stanley, JP Morgan, and the Depository Trust & Clearing Corporation (DTCC). Shibata's appointment is part of a trend of notable CIO appointments this year, including Barrett Schiwitz at Finland’s Basware and Sue Britton at Canada’s Beem Credit Union.
