Thunes Adds Hyperwallet to Expand Cross-Border Payment Network

Thunes, a global cross-border payment platform, has welcomed Hyperwallet, a PayPal service, as a member of its Direct Global Network. This collaboration enables Hyperwallet customers to make real-time transfers to more than 450 million mobile wallets and bank accounts across six key markets in the Asia-Pacific region: Bangladesh, Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, South Korea, and Vietnam. With Thunes’ network spanning more than 130 countries and supporting more than 80 currencies, the partnership significantly enhances Hyperwallet’s ability to offer seamless, fast, and reliable payout solutions.

This integration comes as digital wallet adoption continues to rise in the Asia-Pacific region, which accounts for nearly 70 percent of global digital wallet spending, according to a 2024 Deloitte report. The alliance allows Hyperwallet’s extensive merchant base, including ride-hailing apps, marketplaces, and social media platforms, to provide diverse payout methods tailored to consumer preferences. Thunes’ CEO, Floris de Kort, emphasized the importance of the partnership, highlighting the role of Thunes’ proprietary SmartX Treasury System and Fortress Compliance Platform in ensuring speed, transparency, and security. With payment adoption rates topping 30 percent in areas including Indonesia and the Philippines, this agreement allows Thunes and Hyperwallet to effectively handle the region's changing payment landscape.
