Thunes to Acquire Tilia, Paving the Way for Expansion into US Online Gaming Market

Thunes, a B2B payments infrastructure firm, has entered a definitive agreement to acquire Tilia, a company specializing in acceptance and pay-out services for online games, virtual worlds, and creator economies. Founded in 2019, Tilia's technology will enable Thunes to offer acceptance services for major card networks such as American Express, JCB, MasterCard, UnionPay, and Visa in the U.S. online gaming market, leveraging Tilia's licensing in 48 US states and territories.

Upon completion of the acquisition, Tilia will rebrand as Thunes and continue its operations from San Francisco. This strategic move aligns with Thunes' ambition to expand its presence in the US, allowing it to provide merchants with direct money movement solutions. The partnership with Linden Research (Linden Lab), the current majority owner of Tilia, ensures Thunes' payment processing and payout solutions will enhance the gaming experience by facilitating real-time payments for gamers. The deal is pending regulatory approval, with financial terms undisclosed.
